A sample arrives, the team cooks it, everyone agrees it is good, and the order is placed. Months later the container is not the same product, and nobody can point to where the expectation came from.
A five-kilo sample can prove real things: color, cut, defect level under thaw, and whether the flavor direction suits the application. It cannot prove consistency, because consistency is a property of a population and a sample is one draw from it.
What a sample never shows is variance across production days, behavior after three weeks of reefer transit, or how the product performs on your line at volume rather than in a pan.
So the useful question is not whether the sample is good. It is which numbers travel with the sample.
At NewsourceFoods, we send samples with the specification attached, including glaze, cut size, Brix or grading where relevant, and pack format, so what was tasted can be compared with what was ordered. We support OEM and ODM development, which means a sample can be produced against your target specification rather than chosen from a catalogue. Certifications cover ISO, HACCP, BRC, IFS, KOSHER, and HALAL.
When you request a sample, ask for the specification sheet in the same email. If the two arrive together, the order that follows has something to be measured against.
